PE Wax: Additive for Plastics, PVC, Masterbatch, and Coatings
18 Sep 2026 Justus

Polyethylene Wax (PE Wax) is a synthetic polyethylene-based wax widely used as a lubricant, dispersing agent, processing aid, and surface modifier in various industrial applications.

PE Wax is generally available in powder, flakes, granules, or pellets. This material offers good lubricity, adequate thermal stability, hydrophobic properties, and excellent chemical resistance. Due to these characteristics, PE Wax is widely used in the plastics, PVC, masterbatch, coatings, adhesives, cable, and polymer compounding industries.

Key Functions of PE Wax

  • Reduces friction during extrusion or molding processes
  • Helps pigments and fillers dispersion
  • Helps material flow improvement
  • Reduces sticking to machines, dies, or molds
  • Helps surface finish improvement
  • Improves scratch and abrasion resistance in certain applications
  • Helps maintain production process stability

PE Wax Applications

Plastics and Masterbatch

During the production of color masterbatch and filler masterbatch, PE Wax is used to help improve the dispersion of pigments and mineral fillers within the polymer. Better dispersion can help produce more color consistency, more production process stability, and product surface quality improvement.

PVC

PE Wax is widely used as an external lubricant in various PVC applications such as PVC pipes and fittings, PVC profiles, PVC boards and sheets, PVC flooring, and other PVC-based extrusion products. PE Wax helps reduce friction between the PVC compound and machine surfaces, allowing the extrusion process to run more consistently.

Industrial Coatings

In coating formulations, PE Wax can help scratch resistance improvement, abrasion resistance, slip properties, anti-blocking properties, and surface smoothness. Applications include industrial coatings, metal coatings, wood coatings, and various protective coatings.

Hot Melt Adhesives

In hot melt adhesive formulations, PE Wax can be used as a viscosity modifier and flow modifier. The use of PE Wax helps control material flow characteristics and can support set time adjustment according to formulation requirements.

Cables and Polymer Compounds

In cable compounds and various polymer compounds, PE Wax can be used as a processing aid to help material flow improvement , reduce friction, support extrusion stability, and surface finish improvement.

Wood Plastic Composite (WPC)

In Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) applications, PE Wax is used as a lubricant to assist the mixing and extrusion of polymer and wood fiber. Selecting the appropriate lubricant can help reduce sticking at the die and improve the surface profile quality.

PE Wax can be used as an important additive to improve process efficiency while supporting the quality of the final product.
